As 2021 draws to a close, we join two of our talents, Joël Drommel and Sam Beukema, as they prepare for their last fixtures of the year. Drommel and his strong PSV side fly out to Spain, where they will play Real Sociedad on the 9th of December to seal the fate of group B in the Europa League. Beukema’s AZ have already qualified for the knock-out stages, but they will face a fierce Randers side to finish up formalities in the Europa Conference League.

Drommel’s clean sheet dream

Every game should be played as a ‘must win’-game. However, PSV find themselves in a slightly more favourable position as they visit Real Sociedad. Leading the Spanish side by one point in the group, PSV will do everything they can to avoid a loss. Their previous encounter ended in a draw, but this time the Spanish side will stop at nothing to acquire the three points to secure their place in the knock-out rounds. The pressure will be on GFM talent Joël Drommel to organise the defense in front of him and keep the clean sheet, as he has done twice previously in the Europa League this season.

Beukema’s regimented defense face fierce Randers

Although AZ have comfortably secured their spot in the knock-out rounds of the Europa Conference League, they will have to face Randers to end the year. The pressure is off for AZ, but the stakes are high for their opposition. Randers’ Europa Conference League campaign has been marked by hard-fought draw after hard-fought draw. These draws have come back to haunt them as they face the team that dominated the group, while their rivals for the second knock-out spot, Jablonec face Romanian league leaders CFR Cluj. Cluj have not seen much joy in Europe. All these factors will see GFM’s Sam Beukema fending off fierce Danish attacks.

Good luck lads!
